Doujinshi

Doujinshi & Manga

Doujinshi is a Japanese form of manga or comic-book. Doujinshi are often based on popular sources, and often involve "slash" storylines. They are drawn and published by highly respected artists, as well as smaller fan-published amateur editions.

Japanese Lord of the Rings doujinshi: title not known

"Slash" refers to the internet websites that combine unlikely characters into a new storyline. The combinations are designated by slashmarks, hence the name "slash",  i.e. Aragorn/Boromir, Legolas/Gimli, Faramir/Eowyn, and any other combination you can imagine (as well as a few you might not.......such as Aragorn/Brego, or even.....Aragorn/Watcher in the Water).

Although the inside of these manga might not be to your cultural or personal taste, the cover art is often simply stunning. Reading doujinshi is commonplace in Japan. Commuters often carry a manga or doujinshi with them to read on the train.

Because I've managed to collect only a few myself (some of the Doujinshi can fetch astounding sums),  I have helped myself to photos from some well known Japanese sites. I apologize in advance to anyone who's photo or art I've used, but I don't know how to contact you for permission, and really just want to share your art for others to admire.

Thanks to Ebay seller HappyHooper at Cherden's Doujinshi Store for letting me "borrow" a lot of her scans for these pages, too.

I will try to add to these fairly often, since there are hundreds and hundreds of Lord of the Rings based doujinshi.
