Lord of the Rings was, after all, all about the bling. Sauron had rings, Elves had rings, Dwarves had rings, and even poor Aragorn carried his own burden in the form of a ton of jewelry: the Evenstar, Elfstone, the  heriditary Ring of Barahir, an Elven Mallorn leaf cloak clasp, not to mention those elaborate Elven decorated knives, swords, and so on.

Licensees rushed to get a piece of the action, and hundreds of different items were available to consumers in lots of different countries.
