Wow, Another Ebayer Gives UP

This is an exact copy & paste of an email received from a wonderful Ebayer we did business with. No personal relationship here, just won, paid, and received, as it should be. Ebay has just bastardized the whole process....















Dear Buyers:
For those of you who shopped with us over the years, I am sure you all know
we are a very honest company, and pride ourselves with a 98.3% feedback rating.
This was our life. Your dedication to shopping with us has made many happy
employees.
We are grateful that the majority of you rated us with a Positive Feedback.
For those who rated us with a Negative all we can say is we are sorry and
tried to resolve the issue. Many times those negatives were not justified.
As an example - getting a negative because we "changing the carrier from
UPS to USPS so the item would get there faster and in one piece". For many
of you that took the time to do a feedback you probably also did the Detailed
Rating System. Thats the description - communication - shipping time and
shipping cost rated from 1 to 5. Its new to ebay this year and is more powerful
than feedback ever was. It is not posted anywhere within the ebay system
but anything less than a 4.6 out of 5 is not acceptable. Anything lower than
a 4.4 you are suspended. Also the rating given is averaged meaning you can
give a buyer a 5 in three catagories and a 1 in one catagory. The seller
is than given a 4 across the board.
For those of you who randomly gave us less than a 4 we want to thank you
for having us suspended indefinitely. We have had to sell off stock, lay
off 6 employees and can be facing bankruptcy all based on your opinion. There
is no other internet site or internet company out their that lets the buyers
control the faith of the sellers. We have been threatened, we have been cheated
out of purchases, we recently received five negatives from the same person.
Whom bought 5 items never paid for them, and than gave us a negative for
not shipping. That is approved within the ebay system, we have even had a
15 yr old post a slanderous remark about us that cost us $7000. in sales,
and were told whether fact or fiction a buyer can post their opinion.
All I want to say to all of you, when you are buying from other ebayers,
have some compassion and think about what you would do being the seller.
Dont always set blame on the sellers because you ordered a wrong part, or
UPS broke the item, or you forgot to change your email address and there
was lack of communication. Every seller out there is willing to work with
you and be reasonable, give them a chance. Dont be quick to dish out negatives
and poor ratings to disrupt their lives.
It is unfortunate that we have to leave many happy customers behind because
of a few (six to be exact)bad apples.
